JOB SUMMARY Univision Communications is the premier Spanish language media company in the United States. The Local Sales Manager (LSM) will be responsible for managing and leading the local sales team in developing new business accounts, increasing billing of existing core accounts, demonstrate the value of our products and attempt to reduce attrition within a predetermined budget revenue plan on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis. The LSM will be responsible to manage the local sales team in selling sports, specials, corporate initiatives and help develop non-traditional revenue streams expected to turn into active billing accounts. The LSM will be responsible for recruiting, training, establishing sales goals, supervising, motivating and conducting performance evaluations to a staff of (6) sales people in a fast paced environment. This dynamic team leader must be capable of monitoring and anticipating Station's inventory levels as well as market trends in order to develop an effective pricing structure to react to market conditions. Must possess strong analytical and forecasting skills. Strong focus and experience in managing and executing new business. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with client and agency contacts at all levels. Other duties as deemed necessary. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Offer strong leadership to the entire sales team and is responsible for training and development of sales staff. 2. Be a positive influencer to the account executives and sales assistants, help the AE's to define sales strategy and marketing solutions for our clients. 3. Manage the local sales team by developing new business through proper targeting of accounts; English Language TV, Radio, Newspaper, Yellow Pages, Outdoor, Online, etc. 4. Develop solid client and agency relationships at all levels; corporate, regional, agency account team, media planners, media buyers, marketing managers, etc. 5. Manage and promote the value and rate integrity of our stations and reduce the use of no charge spots. 6. Provide solid sales strategy to account executives to determine the best revenue outcome for our stations and our entire Univision Station group. 7. Manage the local sales team in converting new business accounts into core accounts and increasing existing business, while minimizing attrition. 8. Manage the local sales team in selling sports and other special. 9. Manage the local sales team to create impactful sales presentations through regular communication with the research department and aid the team in selling core and new accounts - the value of our stations. 10. Works with clients as needed to ensure that scripts and spots are up to Univision standards; communicates and follows through with production, sales and clients. 11. Works with radio, online and national divisions to generate the most revenue possible. 12. Supports the National Sales Manager and the National sales team by reaching out to and building relationships within market client decision makers and influencers. 13. Work closely with Online, Radio and the National Sales teams to garner the best revenue generating programs possible MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor degree in marketing, advertising, or business degree or comparable work experience. Work Experience: Minimum 3-5 years' experience as a Local or National Account Executive with sales management experience in a top (20) market preferred. Knowledge of advertising agencies and Nielsen ratings, research and very strong negotiating skills is required. Position requires thorough understanding of Nielsen, Scarborough, TNS-MI and other qualitative research tools. Basic Skills: Computer literate: Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Broadcast applications (Donovan, SQAD, and Adtelligence-CMR), Forecasting applications (Matrix and/or other). Must have command of Nielsen methodology and knowledge of other methodologies such as Arbitron. Familiar with research tools such as Scarborough, Simmons, Yankelovich and Polk and Univision propriety sales portal. Must be able to drive and have a valid California driver's license with a good driving record. Communication Skills: Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills both verbal and written. Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desired. Must be comfortable dealing with all levels of staff including corporate, local and station personnel. Must have very polished presentation skills. Other Required Skills: Must have great selling skills and ability to overcome objections to close business quickly and at "proper" spending levels. Service "Core" accounts effectively to minimize attrition. Develop and maintain strong relationships at the agency and client level that will lead to additional account targets.
